Combining diverse backgrounds

The GIC employs more than 110 scientists and engineers, coming from over 15 different renowned universities from around the globe, with over 35% holding a PhD degree in various fields such as Food Science, Food Engineering, Biotechnology, Nutrition and Chemistry. A significant share of scientists and engineers are dedicated to developing value-adding solutions for our ingredients business.

Thai Union believes this unique combination of various backgrounds, interests, ages, genders, and ethnicities, yields powerful and forward- thinking approaches and propels our success.

Developing game-changing solutions

The GIC’s state-of-the-art facilities include laboratories for product and technology development and a pilot plant, which are both fully equipped for multidisciplinary research in a well-controlled environment.

In 2020 Thai Union Ingredients in collaboration with the GIC will be launching a fully dedicated Omega-3 oil pilot plant in Bangkok, Thailand to test and develop specific solutions making the GIC the ideal partner to identify solutions best suited to tailored customer requirements.

Collaborating to transfer knowledge

The GIC develops strategic innovation partnerships with established institutions around the globe and collaborates with pioneering start- ups to stimulate knowledge transfers. These public and private partnerships support our scientific processes, such as clinical trials and build valuable intellectual property, leading to patented applications and processes.

To remain at the forefront of technological development and innovation in the food industry, Thai Union is proud to be a founding member of food start-up incubator Space-F in collaboration with Mahidol University and the National Innovation Agency of Thailand.
